Waterworth Owen - Public Speaking and Lectures.

G. Waterworth OwenEurope Innova Conference , Lyon, France.Life Cycle Thinking presentationInternational AudienceInnovation expert panel

Gary is a sought after motivational and inspirational speaker. Known to friends and colleagues as ‘Mr. Direct’ - he pulls no punches.

“ I love her dearly, but mother nature can be a real bitch at times.”

“Success today is just not about battening down the hatches and weathering the storm...it’s about learning how to sing and dance in the rain”.

“Screw sustainability. As long as ‘mans’ dominant fetish is ‘empty testicles and full bellies’ - ‘he’ will continue screwing things up.”

“You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. The trick is to put salt in his oats. Make people thirsty for change and get them to take action.”

“The alarm bell keeps ringing and we keep hitting the snooze button. It’s time to wake up Reboot Leadership, Re-Invent Management and Get REAL.”

Gary has been at this - in the boardroom, on international platforms and in the field, for more than 30 years. The greatest challenge we all face in the pursuit of responsible development is behavioural change. It is common belief that by raising awareness, increasing knowledge, compliance and regulation - attitudes and behavior will change. This belief is proving not to be the case. Many studies, surveys and reports document that these initiatives alone often has little or no effect upon responsible behaviour. Millions upon millions are spent annually on media advertising to encourage individuals and business to reduce, reuse and recycle, conserve energy and water etc. Despite these enormous expenditures, these campaigns have produced very little impact. There are more effective ways to change behaviour.

His talks reflecting on decades of personal accounts and experiences of success and failure, adventure and misadventure, never fail to inspire and motivate his audiences whether students or corporate executives. His experiences in being an artist - to one of the early green entrepreneurs in the 80’s - to advertising maverick - to social responsibility ‘explorer’ - adventurer and conservationist, have been distilled into inspiring presentations on developing response-ability (the ability to chose one’s response to challenges), to learn from one’s mistakes and how to keep motivating others to discover and pursue their passion.

His topics include: Creativity and Innovation, Reinventing Management and Rebooting Leadership, Responsibility and Sustainability. To book him in the USA, see >> SOR International Professional Speakers Bureau

Gary has shared many international platforms, for example this one with : Lord Andrew Mawson - one of the foremost social entrepreneurs in the UK . He and Gary were the keynote speakers on how Enterprise and Innovation within the Creative Arts can benefit from Positive Conflict. The One day symposium, focused on how diverse cultures and issues can support this conflict with a view to enabling constructive outcomes and was held at: The Roof Gardens part of Virgin Limited Edition, Sir Richard Branson's portfolio of unique retreats, on May 6, 2011 at the Joint - University for the Creative Arts UCA Creative Challenge and UCA MA Epsom event.

Below is a few minutes of Gary’s presentation:

“Thoughtful and inspiring talk by Gary Waterworth Owen from ResponseAbility Alliance reminded us of the REAL important things that matter. Very thoughtful, good for the soul. Thanks to the UCA / Creative Challenge team, a very well organised event in a beautiful and surreal setting at The Roof Gardens!! When is the next event!!” -Hans Dieter Reichert / Editor Baseline Magazine

“The event on Friday was phenomenal! Both speakers, Andrew and Gary were inspiring, engaging and set some aspirations for myself as well as the students. The students demonstrated a lot of potential and should become innovators and entrepreneurs for the future.” -Gary Lennon 12R Entrepreneur Services

“Life - is not about getting to the top of the ‘mountain’ - it’s about making it through the ‘desert’ and discovering your perfect ‘oasis’ ”.
