‘If you want to go quickly - go alone, if you want to go far, go together’.
Our Vision, Mission and M.O.

Our Vision, Mission and MO.

Heal the Rift.

There is wisdom in this African saying, but going far together has its challenges.

'Are we there yet?' - is the inevitable question every parent dreads when they pack their bags and set off on a long road trip with the kids. Those pesky little passengers test one’s leadership, management, and entertainment skills to the limit.

The analogy drawn, is - those who have chosen to embark on a journey towards sustainability, realise that, we are not there yet! We have a long way to go and many alternative routes will get us there. Leading, managing and ‘entertaining’ the countless numbers of passengers and back seat drivers along the way requires: shared vision and values, an understanding of time and distance, ‘big picture’ maps, regular comfort breaks and ‘sanity stops’ - to stretch, explore and take stock - to rest and refuel in order to ensure the trip is as enjoyable as the destination.

The biggest challenge is - How? Business is always on the look out for the latest ‘sustainability satnav’. Many are on offer and have been tried and tested. Sadly many buyers have paid the price, ticked the box, hopped in the car, entered the destination and sped off at high speed, only to find themselves annoyed by who’s ‘speaking’, confused and frustrated by the instructions find themselves screeching to a sudden stop and staring over the edge of a cliff looking down on an unfortunate soul who did not realise - the map is not the territory.

The greatest routes to sustainability are still yet uncharted and demand courageous trail blazing and the taking of paths less travelled. Fortunately there are amazing sustainability trailblazers and pathfinders out there, forging responsible routes and sharing their knowledge and experience for others to use as they see fit. If you think that some miracle ‘sustainability satnav’ path will appear out of nowhere, and supply all the necessary co-ordinates, beware and get ready for a bumpy ride! You need to create a map that suits you and your organisation, with numerous paths, trails, side roads, lay-byes, high ways and run ways, suitable for various vehicles and craft, and all kinds of weather.

One route successful businesses have embarked on and know about, is that ‘getting into bed’ with a relevant cause can be an exciting ride and a life enriching experience. Embedding Cause into your Brand and Designing for Social Impact is a Winning Strategy - BeCAUSE it works! Brand loyalty is increased exponentially when consumers see and believe - a company supports a cause they also care about. The added benefits of increased company reputation and employee loyalty are wins not to be over looked. According to a Cause Evolution Study conducted by Cone in 2010 - Philanthropy has evolved beyond just giving. Download the PDF

In 1983, Swiss psychiatrist C.A. Meier delivered a fascinating paper at the 3rd World Wilderness Congress in Inverness, Scotland. "Wilderness and the Search for the Soul of Modern Man" addressed not only the tragedy of our vanishing natural wilderness and the need to preserve it, but also the necessity of preserving man's 'inner wilderness'. "A Testament to the Wilderness" consists of Meier's original address and thoughtful and provocative responses by nine concerned writers from around the world. Download a copy
